The elders believed that the plant could cure the sick body. For every illness of humans there exists an herb (a root, leaf or bark) to heal that illness.
Ezekiel 47:12:: Dr. York-El Translation (DYT) - And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, will ascend all trees for food whose leaf will not fade neither will the fruit thereof be consumed it will bring forth new fruit according to his months because their waters they brought forth out of the holy place and the fruit thereof will be for food and the leaf thereof for healing.
