Winged fowl
Genesis 1:21, KJV - And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
The winged fowl (birds) is a descendant of a higher order of fish whose fins were enlarged and thinned, thus enabling them to fly above the waters. At first, it merely skimmed the surface, but as time passed, its abilities became more developed and it took flight. There are still some varieties of fish that are known to jump out of the water and glide occassionally.
. . . Although some theories state that birds developed from land reptiles which took flight, we know that they came from a higher order of fish. These types of fish had enlarged fins that allowed them to fly above water.
