John (Mark)
There was a man who claimed to be a disciple of Jesus. Who was he? He was called John – Yuhanna yet he is known by the name Mark, according to Acts 12:25 it states and I quote, “And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled [their] ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.” He was also known as Marcus (Colossians 4:10). Why? Because a third John with a book in the Bible would cause confusion.
John son of Levi was born in Galilee in the year 10 AD. His mother’s name was Miriam, she was from Jerusalem, of the Tribe of Levi and is known as Mary in the scriptures. His father was Levi or Leviy, son of Rabi Mahil ben Yacov.
